If we can't follow universal signs such as a red light, and we need a written poster to tell us what it means, then we better cross our fingers tight and pray hard. Climate change is a universal sign and if we fail to realize its meaning, we're in for a very rough, if not catastrophic, journey ahead.

Building Disaster-Resilient Communities - A book review

My real baptism into the disaster risk reduction advocacy literally involved a torrent of water. On November 29, 2004, as Typhoon Winnie unleashed its might, the torrential rains started heaving at noontime and with scarcely any let up, it carried on into the dead of the night.

Climate Change Adaptation is our National Imperative

Climate Change is the most serious and most pervasive threat facing humanity today. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the highest scientific body responsible for evaluating the causes and risks of climate change, affirmed in its Fourth Assessment Report that the “warming of the earth’s climate system is unequivocal” and that this warming is attributed to the dramatic rise in human-induced greenhouse gas emissions since the mid 20th-century.
